Edelman Digital shared this interesting infographic giving a few quick notes on social media usage accross social media hubs across Asia. It provides useful information for both traditional marketing teams as they decide whether or not they need to strengthen their social media presence (which they probably do if they’re thinking about it) and to those in the social media marketing industry as they try to sell their services to more traditional companies.
The thing is that Asia is one of the areas best penetrated by social media and the thing Asian marketers need to decide is more of which social media channels to use, not whether or not to use it. Social networking sites, for example, are used by at least 50% of internet users in all countries in the infographic except for Japan at around 44% and China at around 38% (Penn-Olson points out that comScore, the company that compiled the data for the infograph only gathered data from PC users which means that it doesn’t account for users of Mobile social media applications).
All we’re really trying to say is that if you’re in Asia, a huge chunk of your target market would be in social media. So leverage it and engage your audience today!
