Did you visit our stand?
If you visited the Business Exhibition at the Excel last Thursday or Friday – you can’t have missed us!
We had lights, camera and a lot of networking action – with our onsite professional photographer! Taking Headshots of anyone looking to update their LinkedIn Profile Picture, it is paramount that people know the face behind the online connection.
The theme was Love showing our passion behind Social Media. We created a romantic ambience – encouraging visitors to flirt with their customers through Social Media.
We put up heart shaped balloons, handed out love heart chocolates, scattered red feathers and rose petals across the floor – all creating an amorous atmosphere. We managed to allure and network with over 600 people!
There was a constant buzz around our stall and we had some genuine and interesting conversations with small business owners interested in Social Media and individuals looking to better market their brand through social. The common response was either “Yeah, I know it’s time I need to get my business on Social Media” or “I’ve been telling my boss for years we need to get on LinkedIn”. Music to our ears, we didn’t need to upsell the benefits of integrating a Social Media Strategy within a business Marketing Strategy. A lot of business owners knew the importance of it but simply needed more time, resources or training to get started.
One constraint we heard a lot, particularly from start-ups with only one or two employees, was lack of time. Individuals wanted to devise and implement a structured Social Media Strategy, find new leads and interact with their consumer base, but don’t have the time. They often work extremely long hours, performing all business tasks themselves, getting home from work around 6 or 7pm with the arduous task of social media. Time and time again Social Media is left to the bottom of the pile, now 5-10 years ago when social was just kicking off this may have been acceptable. But now in the digital age it should be a top priority for those looking to market their business. Realistically if a potential client or consumer tweets, messages or comments on one of your Social Media channels at 9am, and you haven’t got time to reply till the end of the day then realistically you’ve lost that interest. Time is a cruel mistress and often it is not a realistic task to incorporate Social Media into your day by day schedule. If this is the case – outsource – just like you would your website, telephone or finance services.
Anyway – we really enjoyed meeting everyone, taking their picture, and discussing how they are currently using Social Media to market their business endeavours. From a germ of an idea to a well-established SME we hope Social Media becomes your marketing priority for the future.
